Design will follow the engineering design process to address criteria, needs, and constraints of the automated system.
Design should include
- analyzing the problem
- planning and designing a functional system with end-effector (e.g., arms, grippers, legs, wheels, treads, fins, propellers)
- identifying components (e.g., input, output, process, hardware, software)
- preparing a model (physical or virtual)
- explaining the program and mechanical features of the model
- testing the model
- revising the model based on test results.
Process/Skill Questions:
- What is the specific problem that will be addressed by the robot?
- How do the criteria, needs, and constraints of the automated system influence design decisions?
- What is the appropriate end-effector based on the identified problem and criteria for the robotic system?
- How do the selected components contribute to the overall functionality of the robot and its ability to address the specified problem?
