  • a list of postsecondary institutions offering degrees or certificate programs in the following areas of the IT and game-programming industries:
    • Computer science
    • Information technology
    • Game design
    • Game art/graphic design
    • Game writing
    • Interdisciplinary studies
  • a list of job titles related to each field
  • the preparation required for each job
  • the opportunities for advancement
  • employment trends in each field.
Job databanks should also be used to help students match their interests, abilities, aptitudes, and job expectations to industry standards. Many Web sites offer career exploration resources, including the Virginia Department of Education’s Career Planning Guide.

  3. Synthesize relevant information from primary and secondary sources and present it in a logical sequence.
  4. Cite sources for both quoted and paraphrased ideas using a standard method of documentation, such as that of the Modern Language Association (MLA) or the American Psychological Association (APA).
  5. Define the meaning and consequences of plagiarism and follow ethical and legal guidelines for gathering and using information.
  6. Demonstrate ethical use of the Internet.
