Definition

Creating and conducting queries involves setting search parameters to help find specific data within a database. Methods for creating queries include using a query-building tool or a query-programming language (e.g., SQL). Queries may be conducted automatically according to programmed specifications, or manually through the database interface or a Web page. Advanced queries may result in

  • extracting multiple fields from the database
  • displaying query results in a report
  • displaying query results in a mail merge.
